The Parochial Church Council (PCC)

 

There are 15 members of the PCC.   It is organised into several sub-committees:

 

  • The Home Missions Committee organises such activities as - 

    • an annual Memorial Service, to which relatives of all those whose funerals have been conducted in the last 12 months are invited;

    • the Trinity Tea for the elderly and housebound of the Parish;

    • the distribution of Christmas cards to every house in the Parish;

    • the distribution of Harvest gifts.

    Serving on the Home Missions Committee are:

  • The Overseas Missions Committee organises various activities such as -

    • Lent lunches in aid of overseas charities;

    • an annual barbecue for Christian Aid;

    • support for other causes including ‘Smile Malawi’ (a registered charity founded by a member of the congregation);

    • jumpers and blankets are knitted by a group of ladies in aid of ‘Feed the Children’.

  • The Social Committee organises a varied social calendar throughout the year, including activities such as -

    • a Harvest Supper & Barn Dance;

    • a Christmas Dinner;

    • an annual picnic;

    • quizzes, dances etc;

    • an annual Summer Fayre and Christmas Bazaar.

Serving on the Social Committee are:

  • The Church Property Committee carries out general maintenance around the church, hall and grounds, for example clearing out the gullies and gutters, and minor repairs etc, as well as organising the rota of members of the congregation to welcome visitors when the church is open every Saturday during the summer months.

At present two members of the PCC, Jenny Bowles and Jean Chamberlain, attend the Deanery Synod.

 

The Treasurer is not required to serve on a committee.

The last Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) was held on the 13th April 2008 in the Church Hall after the Sunday service.
